Meet Lachlan Gardiner – Photographer. Explorer. Storyteller.

Lachie has supported Campers Pantry from day dot. Back when I (AJ) was in startup mode, he generously helped out with photography for free—and that kind of support at the beginning of the journey is something you never forget. Lachie and I have worked together so often over the years that we’re perfectly in sync on shoots—so much so that we quite often finish each other’s sentences. He just gets it.

Lachlan is one of the most respected outdoor adventure photographers and filmmakers in Australia. His full-time career has taken him from the state forests of his childhood on the Sunshine Coast to some of the most remote and wild places on the planet. Now based in Brisbane, Lachlan captures powerful, authentic imagery for outdoor brands, tourism campaigns, and adventure operators. Whether he’s high in the Himalayas or deep in the Tasmanian wilderness, Lachlan’s storytelling is always grounded in a genuine love for the outdoors.

His adventure resume is stacked—think mountain biking, mountaineering, rock climbing, and remote expeditions. One of his most memorable trips? Exploring a little-known region on the Nepal–Tibet border and climbing unnamed 6000m+ peaks. When it comes to sunrises and sunsets, he’s witnessed more jaw-dropping ones than most of us could imagine—but his favourite moments are usually high in the mountains, camera in hand.

Despite having a job that many would envy, Lachlan’s passion for adventure is never performative. He hikes solo often, but says the best memories are always with close mates (and his dog Lucy, who’s a fan of hiking—as long as there’s a warm blanket involved). He dreams of one day exploring Antarctica, but for now, he’s just as happy out on a multi-day hike, shooting from the saddle of his bike, or unwinding post-adventure with a hazy pale ale.

Lachlan’s gear list is solid, but there’s one item that always comes along for the ride: his camera. His go-to hiking meals? Campers Pantry, of course. And when he’s off the trail, it’s all about pizza, tacos, and a strong coffee in the morning.

A classic hits playlist usually sets the mood on road trips, and when he finds a quiet moment, he’s likely flipping through the pages of Adventures of a Young Naturalist by Sir David Attenborough—his dream adventure companion, if he could choose anyone, from any time.
