Fiona Noonan lights up when she talks about the outdoors—and it’s no surprise why. From childhood bushwalks with her dad in suburban Sydney to wild hikes in the Canadian mountains, Fiona’s connection to nature has always been about joy, connection, and soaking up the simple beauty of the trail.
Now based on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, Fiona splits her time between coastal life and alpine dreaming. She and her partner Grant recently completed the Overland Track in Tasmania, braving the weather swings with grins on their faces. The takeaway? Take a sense of humour and don't take good outdoor gear for granted.
Whether she’s solo hiking a local trail after work or sharing stories and snacks with friends on a weekend trip, Fiona brings a playful, grounded energy to every adventure. Her favourite kinds of days involve big climbs, colourful skies, chasing waterfalls, laughter and cups of tea.
Most memorable hike: Joffre Lakes in BC, complete with glacier views and a bear family sighting
Best sunrise: Machu Picchu from the Sun Gate – magic light and no crowds
Adventure style: Solo to recharge, group hikes for the trail stoke
Dream destinations: The Alps (Austria, Switzerland, Italy) + Baltic Forests to trace her Latvian roots
Can’t-hike-without-it: A hat (sun protection is non-negotiable)
Boots or runners? Solid hiking boots all the way
Go-to hiking snack: Super dark chocolate
Post-hike craving: Chocolate again… with a warm cuppa
Morning ritual: Copious amounts of tea
Post-adventure drink: More tea… or a cheeky glass of bubbles
Fiona has no pets—yet—but is “in the market” for a baby Highland cow, and we fully support that dream. Her perfect adventure buddy? She’s already found him in her partner Grant: “He’s strong, adventurous, and makes me smile a lot—I’m a lucky girl.” On ya Grant! 😉
