Growing up on his grandfather’s farm at the foothills of kunanyi/Mt Wellington, Ben Wilkinson—better known as Wilkography—developed a deep connection to the wild landscapes of Tasmania. That early exposure to nature set the stage for a life spent bushwalking, exploring, and capturing the rugged beauty of the outdoors through his camera lens.
From fast-packing The Western Arthurs in a day to witnessing the most breathtaking sunrise over Lake Oberon, Ben’s adventures are fueled by a love for remote wilderness and the challenge of the journey. While he enjoys time on the trail with close friends—especially his brother—he’s always seeking out new forests and mountains to explore, with New Zealand high on his list.
No trip is complete without his camera and PLB, ensuring both safety and the ability to capture the landscapes that inspire him most. A boots guy through and through, his trail fuel of choice? Chocolate and Campers Pantry meals. And when it’s time to refuel after a long adventure, nothing hits the spot like burgers, dim sims, and greasy food.
Ben starts every outdoor morning with coffee and keeps the energy up with a soundtrack of German techno. On long trips, audiobooks—especially Fantasy and Sci-Fi—are his go-to escape. If he could share an adventure with anyone, it would be Peter Dombrovskis, to witness his legendary photography process in nature.
With a passion for Tasmania’s landscapes and a talent for capturing its raw beauty, Ben shares his work through Wilkography and Tasmanian Photography Tours. Follow his journey here:
