Currently Somewhere Between Argentina and Alaska
📍 Brisbane born – Walking the world
Meet Lucy Barnard and her trail buddy Wombat, a blue heeler with serious trail cred. Together, they're on an extraordinary mission: walking from the southernmost tip of South America to the northern reaches of Alaska. This human-dog duo is making history (and paw prints) one step at a time.
Lucy’s love for the outdoors began with “long short walks” with her dad, and now her adventures include canyoning, kayaking, climbing, and even timber sledding. From hiking across Chile and spotting her first wild puma after a blizzard, to soaking in fiery sunsets on the Jatbula Trail in the Northern Territory—her stories are wild in all the right ways.
Wombat isn’t just along for the ride—he’s been named Canine Adventurer of the Year by the Australian Geographic Society. Together, they’ve crossed borders, danced with Mexican police (to Nutbush City Limits, of course), and chased salty fried corn dreams across continents.
Lucy's go-to kit? Trail runners (unless it's a mud party), a killer penultimate breakfast, and eyes always scanning for bears before coffee. Her dream adventures? Hiking Mt Roraima in Venezuela and a crossing of Reunion Island.
Whether sipping pisco sours post-hike or skipping coffee until the wind dies down, Lucy and Wombat embody everything we love about adventure—courage, curiosity, and connection to the wild.
